Protector of the people

I’m volunteering for this year’s Rotman Orientation Camp, and one of the things I’m volunteering for is to be security for the events where alcohol is being served. Because I’m a prototypical bouncer/security guy and all.

Anyway, as part of my training, I had to take the course on serving alcohol with the managers and bartenders. I’m well aware that makes little sense since all I’ll be doing is shepherding drunken first-year students back to their cabins, but I digress.

We wound up taking a painful 3 hour course with an instructor who was a condescending curmudgeon that clearly didn’t want to be there, followed by a 25 minute exam. Yes, there was an exam. Anyway, I barely finished the exam on time while everyone else left early, so I was rather worried. When the results came back and I received an e-mail telling me I had passed, I figured that everyone else had passed as well since I had been so rushed for time and barely finished.

13 MBAs took the test, including me. 4 passed, including me.

I am a lean, mean, drunkard-guiding machine. On paper, anyway.
