Dude, where’s my A/C?

It was 20+ degrees Celsius here in Toronto last weekend, which is obviously a change from the cold that I’m used to in Edmonton. It’s also a sign that summer is almost here. If you know me, you’ll know that I hate the heat, and made sure to find a place that has air conditioning because I’m going to need it for the Toronto summer.

So obviously, a few days ago, the building managers put up a sign saying that they were doing maintenance on the A/C unit that services the building, and that it would take 3-4 weeks. Now, why couldn’t they have done maintenance in the freakin’ winter when we didn’t need A/C?

My two loves combined into one

If this trailer doesn’t get you excited to watch this week’s episode of Family Guy…well, then you’re obviously not me. I couldn’t come up with a more fitting way to celebrate the end to the first year of my MBA.

I like to call it attention to detail

Here’s how OCD/anal I am about grammar:

I’m reviewing lecture notes for my final exams this week, and I find myself continually correcting any spelling or grammar errors in the prof’s lecture notes. Even though I will never read these notes again after the final.

Double Action!

Remember the Nike commercials with Penny Hardaway featuring that tiny puppet, Lil’ Penny? There was one fantastic commercial in particular where they talked about co-starring in a fake police movie called “Double Action” that I enjoyed.

The genius of Nike didn’t stop there, though. Nike actually sold t-shirts with a fake “Double Action” movie poster on it. How do I know? Because I have that t-shirt. And beginning in high school, I wore that t-shirt to all of my final exams as my lucky charm. Part of my high school yearbook caption actually reads, “DOUBLE ACTION FOREVER!!!” It didn’t stop there though.

I wore this shirt through all of my undergrad finals.

I wore this shirt through all of my graduate finals.

I wore this shirt for my GMAT exam.

Unfortunately, I left the shirt at home so I didn’t have the benefit of having it for the first three quarters here at school. But I finally remembered to pick it up on my trip home last month, and there’s only one thing to say:

Double Action forever!!!

The return of D.A.

With exams beginning this coming week, I’m returning to my source of prior success after the debacle of last quarter:

Double Action!!!

For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, an explanation will be forthcoming later this week.

The Chantastic ethics paper: Video game addiction

As promised on my Twitter page a couple of weeks ago, here is the Ethics paper I wrote examining the issue of video game addiction, and whether video game manufacturers are responsible.

(Editor’s note: The following are the views of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of The Chantastic Blog as it is entirely possible that the author just wanted to write a paper referencing darts, hookers, booze, and Star Wars)

The growth of video games over the last two decades has spawned millions of users worldwide. Literally hundreds of video games on a variety of platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Wii, personal computers, just to name a few) are available for purchase at any mass electronic retailer, an indication of the vast number of users who play video games. Ironically, I am also yellow on the outside, white on the inside

I was eating a banana, sitting in class near the front of the room, when I sneezed.

The prof stops the lecture to say, “Bless you”, then continues.

Two seconds later, I sneezed again.

The prof stops the lecture again to say, “Are you allergic to bananas?”
