The self-filter only lets through Anchorman quotes

You might not be aware, but I actually do filter out what I put in this blog. The things that I want to put on this blog are not necessarily the same as the posts on this blog sometimes, mostly because I’m very aware of the environment in which I’m operating. When you write for your own blog, you’ve got to be writer, editor, and upper management.

Today is one of those days. There’s a post that I want to make, but I can’t because I don’t think it would be appropriate. All I can really tell you is that I e-mailed a variation of this quote to someone else in my class:

It’s quite pungent. Really stings the nostrils.

The Rotman nice-off

Our class had a prof last quarter who seemed like the nicest guy ever. He came in on the weekend before final exams to answer student questions, and rumor has it that he even brought Timbits for students.

But this quarter, another prof started teaching us and seemed like a challenger for the title. He ended today’s class by saying, “Thanks for the great class, and thanks for participating.”

Some of my classmates and I were talking about this after class today, and I commented that they needed to have a “nice-off”. A great idea at first, except that I’d picture it happening like this:

- Thank you for meeting me. It is a privilege to have this opportunity with you.
- Likewise, I’ve heard many nice things about you.
- Thank you. I will also pass along thanks to my fellow faculty for such nice comments.
- Well sir, I think you should begin.
- Thank you for that, but really, I will let you start.
- You are very quite generous for making that offer, but please, feel free to begin.
- You are too gracious. Thank you. However, it would not be fair to you if I were to start.
- Thank you for your compliment. Still, I insist that you go first…
